IRELAND

THE ULTIMATE IRISH BUCKET LIST

Thousands of visitors come to Ireland every year to enjoy its stunning landscapes, welcoming locals, and vibrant culture. But what cultural experiences make the Emerald Isle so special? Here is my ultimate bucket list of things to try and see Ireland, from craic and whiskey to hurling and lambs!

HANDY APPS FOR TRAVELLING IRELAND

Calling all tech-savvy travellers heading to Ireland! I have handpicked 21 apps that will make planning your trip to the Emerald Isle a bit easier and way more fun - be it a weekend getaway to Dublin or a road trip around the country, there is something for all types of trips and all sorts of interests.

GALWAY CITY IN ONE DAY

Hedonistic, hip, charming - Galway is hard to resist. The city's Irish name, Gaillimh, originates from the word gaill translating as 'foreigners' or 'outsiders', resonating with a great many visitors who could not tear themselves away from here. The city, steeped in history, oozes a modern flair and offers a plethora of pleasures and frolics - colourful pubs, bohemian cafés, markets, bookshops, you name it. Renowned for its arty spirit and atmosphere, Galway is the one place in Ireland you need to visit to understand what great craic is all about.

EXPLORING CO.GALWAY: CONNEMARA

When travelling along the West coast of Ireland, it is impossible to miss Connemara, a region in County Galway. It evokes some of the most iconic Irish landscapes you see in travel guides, those famous rugged vistas and rustic tranquillity. The scenery combines narrow roads punctuating windswept valleys, countless sheep, beautiful inland loughs - what's not to like? So, as I headed from Limerick up to Galway City, I decided to go on a day trip to the renowned countryside.

EXPLORING CO. CLARE: ENNIS & BUNRATTY CASTLE

Let's go to County Clare! This region in the mid-west of Ireland has quite a lot to offer: a spectacular rugged coastline, medieval abbeys and castles, lush landscapes, traditional Irish music and culture. That is, everything visitors come to Ireland for. If you can only travel one day (or w/end) at a time, the colourful town of Ennis and the 15th century Bunratty Castle are nice places to start with.

WHAT TO SEE AND DO IN LIMERICK CITY

For the next few months, I am working and living on the emerald island that is Ireland. Of all places, I ended up in the middle of the Wild Atlantic Way - in Limerick (Luimneach). This historic place, founded by the Vikings in 812 AD on the banks of the River Shannon, combines the noise and action of a busy city and the comfort of a rural setting.

If you ever find yourself in this part of Ireland, here is my guide to what to do and see in the city (pubs included, of course!)

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND IN DUBLIN

7 things I engaged myself in while on a weekend trip to Dublin, including drinking copius amounts of tea and having some craic.
